Gold Medal Winning cakes

Our Easter coloring contest is starting next week for the kids. Stop at either location  to pick up your Coloring Sheet. 

The Cold Spring Bakery had a very successful weekend on February 21-22 at the Upper Midwest Bakery Convention at Treasure Island Casino in Red Wing. Sarah Gibson took 1st Place and the $100 cash prize in the Baked Foods Competition in the Bar category while Andria Schurman took 3rd place in the same category.
Carmen Avalos, Kate Bencker and Sarah Gibson received Gold Medals in the Deco Cake Contest while Silver Certificates were awarded to  Marietta Vossen, Nina Walz, Carmen Avalos, Sarah Gibson, Andria Schurman, Deb Nistler and Kate Bencker for their cakes and cupcakes.  Sarah, Kate and Ryan Ruegemer also received Bronze Certificates for cakes and cupcakes.  In all the bakery sent 27 entries to the convention.
Nina's Beginner Novelty Cake also was voted the Best of Show which came with a $100 cash prize.  The UMBA also awarded their annual scholarships and Cold Spring Bakery employee Jeremy Gertken received a $500 scholarship towards his culinary program at SCTC.

The Upper Midwest Bakery Association brings together bakers from Minnesota. Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin for a two day convention which includes exhibits, education seminars, contests and a banquet.  For complete  convention results, go to
